This week our class will be beginning our final step before graduation from the Marketing and Advertising Communications program at Canadore. We’ve spent the past few months finding and preparing for work placements that will last a month and give us the opportunity to get some workplace experience and try out some full time work related to our field.
I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to do a placement with Hard Hat Hunter. Hard Hat Hunter is a start up social media platform specifically designed for those in the trades and construction industry: think LinkedIn or Facebook but tailored to blue collar workers! Their site offers a number of tools and resources for any level of worker--those with and without jobs or schooling--as well as for companies of all sizes. Some of the features offered on their site include:
- Job listings
- Freebies & resources for companies (ie: forms)
- Safety blog posts
- Industry news
- Platform to grow your network with workers around the world
My role during my placement with Hard Hat Hunter will be Operations Assistant, I will be helping with everyday activities, media creation, and some backend stuff. I will be supporting Samantha and Jonathan with projects as they become available, and creating content such as blog posts, graphics, and more as necessary. I’m looking forward to the opportunity and hope to continue learning about the inner workings of a prominent startup company during my month working full time with them.
