I am from a small little town called Elk Lake with a total population of 500 residents & therefore North Bay is considered a BIG city in my eyes. I actually enjoy North Bay…unlike what I originally expected. North Bay is convenient: it has every little store I need, some good eats and it is still relatively close to home (a 2 hour drive if you do 110 km/h like I do…SHH!), not to mention that it's close enough to everywhere. Kind of like a middle point on the map, right? You can go any which way from North Bay! You hear so many people talk about “it's sooo northern & sooo cold.” I’m okay with that, I’m the “weird one” that likes the cool winter days and I often try to make the best of it & PLEASE, North Bay, cold? Yeah, how about try a short 2.5 hours even farther north… I dare ya!
One of my all-time favorite things about North Bay is the YMCA. Where I’m from, the closest thing you’re going to get to a gym is a dirt road and, on a good day, maybe half the street lights will be working… So I am ENJOYING the “Y” to its fullest. Best part: your membership includes all the amenities. INCLUDING THE SAUNA. HELLO warmth!!
