Social Media has been growing more and more over the years. That opens up a whole new market for businesses. If businesses have some type of social media account, it already gives them a step up in the competition.
For a public relations professional, this information can be very valuable to understanding your audience’s attitudes and opinions. Tools like Twitter and Facebook allow your audience to interact with you and your company. For example, if someone posts on Twitter mentioning your company with the “#” or the “@” symbols, it automatically gives you a notification. Here is an example for Toronto on Twitter. Websites such as Hootsuite, can give you access to analytics that can help you and your company strive. On Twitter it can show follower growth, Twitter mentions, and retweets. This way you can see what people are saying about you and your company as well as when people have been more active about talking or mentioning your company.
Using social media is a very easy way to reach out to your customers. Analytics are also a very easy way to see data about your company on social media. As a PR professional, this is a very good thing to look at and take some time to invest in.
