Blog writing can have many upsides as well as many downsides. You can use a blog to reach out and connect to possibly millions of people. You can also write weekly blogs just for your own satisfaction. The moral of the story is, if you’re online sharing your opinion or personal things about your life, do so with thick skin, knowing that not everyone will enjoy your work as much as you do.
In today's new age of media, technology has made it easy for anyone that wants to share their opinion or views on a subject to do so with millions using a simple click of a laptop. Blogs are one of these amazing ways in which someone can reach out to a large audience easily. Although there are some great upsides that can come from connecting with people online over a common interest, there are always downsides.
One of the biggest upsides that can come with writing blog posts is sharing your opinions about a topic with people who genuinely care about this same topic. Nothing feels better than writing a long blog about your (maybe boring) life and having someone read about it, and actually enjoy your (maybe suspect) life stories and opinions.
Although there are several upsides that come with writing and posting blogs, there are also some downsides. There are the obvious downsides that come with writing a blog, like that it takes up a big chunk of free time. But the main downside I want to discuss is when your blog is invaded by “Internet Trolls”.
It can suck when you blog about a week in your (maybe unsatisfying) life and no one reads it. What’s even worse is when someone does read your work and then proceeds to harass you through your blog, calling you horrid names and making you doubt yourself as a writer, making you question all of your choices up to that point in your life. Why did you even start writing? What’s the point with continuing something you once had a passion for? Next thing you know you're quitting the one thing that kept you motivated and you fall into a deep depression all because “Little Billy” who is 10 years old told you that you suck at writing and should give up on life 'cause you will never be successful.
Moral of the story: if you’re online sharing your life, do so with thick skin.
