The way we are communicating with one another in the present has already changed drastically when compared to the past. Saying so, the resources we have and are going to continue to develop will surely change the way we communicate in the future.
My generation fascinates me so much, in the way that we grew up in the middle of all the changes. We had a life before technology, when we had to call our friend on our landline home phones, or better yet walking over to see if someone was home. We played outside until the sun was set and the street lights came on. Technology blew up, and it blew up fast. Overnight everyone had a cell phone, a computer and realistic video games.
I believe the way we’re going to communicate with one another in the future will only get more and more impersonal. With the growing popularity of holograms and virtual reality, I think that a lot of people are going to choose to be alone rather than interacting with others. It sounds completely insane to us because we’re still in the development stages of technology, and we know a life outside of it. Technology isn’t even near its maturity stage. It seems like they’ve already done so much, but imagine what can be done in 50, 75, 100 years!
It’s amazing to think about the advances we will make, however, I do think there is a major downfall. The lack of human interaction being my main concern/theory. There’s already a noticeable decline in the amount of time I speak to anyone face to face as compared to before I was submerged in my online presence. If we’re going to look at it from a third party view, interacting with anyone online whether they’re real or not is so much better. Here’s why: It takes effort to socialize. People are complicated. People are needy. People require effort. Online, you can be whoever you want. If you don’t want to put in any effort, you don’t need to, all without leaving the comfort of your own bed. I don’t think technology is going to rid us of human interaction altogether, however, I do believe there is going to be a very obvious decline.
Technology is amazing, and capable of infinite things and I can’t wait to see what will be developed in my lifetime. Saying so, I do believe we should be careful, as it has its negative aspects as well.
