Tianjin, China, is a city on the North-East coast of China about 30 minutes away from Beijing using China’s luxurious high-speed train. Tianjin has a population of about 14.7 million people in the municipality, and an urban population of 11.5 million people. Tianjin is lucky to be “one of the four municipalities under the direct control of China’s central government.”
Tianjin has many different schools in the area, including: Nankai University, Tianjin University, Tianjin Electronic Information College, Tianjin Medical University, and Tianjin Foreign Studies University. I will be travelling to Tianjin on March 21, 2015 until April 17, 2015 with the intention of studying at Tianjin Electronic Information College.
While I am attending TEIC, I will be studying different topics all relating to China. I will be taking two hours of Mandarin lessons every morning, with other classes listed below:
- Chinese history
- Chinese culture
- Physical education:
- Tai Chi
- Kung Fu
- Table Tennis
The school is also giving us the opportunity to travel to Beijing to experience the Chinese treasure known as the Great Wall of China, as well as the Summer Palace. On my own, I will be traveling to the Forbidden City as well, looking to broaden my horizons about Chinese culture and history, as well as enriching my life in personal ways.
