Policies are put in place to keep the image of a company safe from a number of things. With that being said it takes a number of people to make sure these policies are put into place.
Social media is a huge communication system with plenty of influence. People are consistently posting thoughts, ideas, crisis, images, events, and knowledge, almost anything they would like. Within a company there has to be closure knowing that their employees or sometimes customers are not tarnishing their company name or taking credit for things the company has done.
Each department in a company covers different areas. These departments know in what areas risks can occur so their input on what policies to put in place is important. No one knows exactly what to do for each department to cover the company’s butt, so that is why I say it takes a “community”. Every department should be able to overview another department’s policy in case they have something to add from an outside perspective. If everyone works together, the more success a company will have.
