Technology has helped everyone, from students learning about history, to people of all ages connecting with their family across the world.

Even though social media and technology seem like a bad thing, people could soon live the easiest lives possible without having to put in much work, while others will struggle to see where they fit in the new age of technology. I believe that technology is here to help and make life easy.
Technology has taken over and people can't seem to get with the times. We're talking about how technology has helped everyone, from students learning about history, to people of all ages connecting with their family across the world.
I found that older generations seem to have a problem with how technology has affected their kids' learning. From my findings it looks like students seem to love it and they feel that it's much easier for them to learn, but I've also seen the distractions that it causes.
Kids will always be on their phone which does, in some ways, create a disconnect, even though people have never been more connected. I've seen many people use technology as their source of income, while others have lost everything due to how little privacy there is.
Social media and technology is not for everyone, but the problem is, in a few years, people won't have a choice about whether or not they can choose to use it. Social media is slowly growing in people's jobs and soon, if the person isn't qualified in social media use, then that company is going to find someone who is.

In today’s societies, technology advances have made just about everything convenient and accessible at your fingertips. However, there’s likely a con to nearly every advancement we’ve seen so far. If we take education for instance, we have seen an immense advancement in the technology of computers. We as students are able to get our education on an international scale without even changing out of our pyjamas (http://smallbusiness.chron.com/advantages-disadvantages-technology-advances-12579.html).
Another huge advancement in technology is the cell phone. We have seen this device go from a brick carried around in a large portfolio type case to what we currently have today, which is a device that in some cases weighs less than a pound.
One of the biggest and most prominent problems I feel we see with technology is the lack of privacy. Jemima Kiss, in the international edition of The Guardian, stated that “(Stephen) Balkam (chief executive of the Family Online Safety Institute and member of Facebook's safety advisory board) describes the internet's two biggest privacy problems as reputational damage – inadvertently posting drunken photos that your boss might see, for example – and physical safety, the latter being the issue for women particularly wary of location tools.” (Kiss, 2010, retrieved January 26, 2018 from https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2010/aug/21/facebook-places-google).
In reality, nothing remains’ private once it hits the Internet. Therefore, next time you want to post that selfie you took at that house party you attended, you better think twice because it could come back and haunt you in the near future.

New “Tide Pods” Challenge Creates Chaos and Confusion Amongst Social Media Users
By Logan Jones
In 2012, the multi-national consumer goods corporation Procter & Gamble unleashed Tide PODS as an efficient, compact alternative to bottled laundry detergent. The Tide PODS are colourfully decorated and packaged in a way that is visually appealing and a little alluring.
So why is social media deciding to pounce on these now?
Simple; let us take from the biblical tale of Adam and Eve. As you may already know, Eve takes a bite out of an apple after she is explicitly told not to. Which leaves us with the question, “Are Tide PODS the new forbidden fruit?”
As some of you may scoff at this, others may ponder. According to Vice, almost 100 people have called poison control for eating Tide PODS.
So why are people eating them? Easy, for that sweet 15 seconds of viral fame.
There has been a “Tide Pods challenge” surfacing around the web where various users actually eat the detergent for reactions, shares and likes. It has now become a viral meme where people are creating food that looks like Tide PODS, almost normalizing the behaviour that eating them is perfectly fine.
How do we deal with this challenge and the decomposition of brain activity amongst these “memers”? The answer is simple, natural selection, my dudes.

Technology is constantly evolving and creating change in our lives. People today have incorporated technology into almost every aspect of their day. From cars, medication, coffee makers, and phones, technology is everywhere.
Advancements in technology have been fundamental to the growth of many industries. In the medical industry, technology has been used to better diagnose and treat illness. Social media and Internet technology have allowed for easy global communication and have brought people around the world closer together. New technology has allowed for humans to be more productive in their jobs. In the entertainment industry movies and TV shows use top of the line computer software to achieve lifelike special effects and graphics.
However, with advancements there are also some disadvantages to technology. People have become glued to their personal devices and now join social media at young ages. At some major companies, technology has begun to replace cashier jobs. McDonald’s implemented self-checkout cash registers for customers to order from and even Amazon has created a cashier free store.
We are currently in a golden age of technology advancements. With those advancements come many new technologies that can improve human life and work. But, like anything, there are always downfalls; with technology advancements there are times when it is helpful and times it can hinder a situation.

Because of social media growing so fast, there are lots of new things happening over the years. Some of these things are good, but some are not.
I think social media has more advantages than disadvantages. Look around, every person uses social media because it is easy to talk to people around the world and share what's on your mind. Sometimes social media could increase public benefit programs; it will help people grow together. For example, when some places need help, the Red Cross will put the information on social media and countless people will go to help them. So, I believe social media will continue into the future.
But there are some disadvantages, such as swindling and bad information. If the government and social media companies could control those factors, they will not grow in the future. Also, because of the disadvantages, social media companies solve lots of employment problems, because companies need people to cull through fake news and bad information, such as can sometimes be found on Facebook.
So, I trust social media is good and will be better in the future.
