Folks, because it’s Thursday today (my 4th favourite day of the week) & also Throw Back Thursday, I decided to throw it right back to the time I thought I was a Rock Star… YES! You heard (I mean read*) that correctly. I, Airianna Misener, thought I was a Rock Star back in the day. Little did I know, I could not sing if my life depended on it.
Around grade 5, my inner Rocker came out. My best friend and I formed a band and we were going to make it in the big world. Or so we thought. With a closet full of dresses and purple clothing to leather pants and black turtle necks, we had it really going on!!! (Side note: when the heck were leather pants ever appropriate for any occasion??).
Each Tuesday night was band night. We recruited a few class mates to join in. Found some old instruments, I mean VINTAGE instruments and jammed away! We wrote our own songs inspired from the Lizzy McGuire CD and even played a couple basement shows. That winter we entered our band of 4 into a contest at the Earlton Festival. A solid 3rd place we went home with.
Thinking back to it now, we had some pretty cool parents. Such inspiring parents that really let us explore who we wanted to be. My father even set us up in a “recording studio”. Although our Rock Star career only lasted a short 4 months, it is the memory that I will chuckle and shake my head at forever.
Where did we go from there, you ask? Well, we were inspired by The Simple Life show and wanted to be Paris Hilton & Nicole Ritchie.
Good times... Good times!
